Just got a new front end put on my bike obvious difference is the weight, my bike feels about 5 pounds lighter. It has a thru axel which makes the front end way stiffer so turning feels a lot more stable. My riding confidence is way up, so now I'm pushing my rides harder and endurance is following naturally. I have an old friend who races quite a bit so I'm considering getting into beginner class and racing to. I don't know if 41 is a bit late to get into the sport, but I'm having a blast. I'm building a really nice bike here much different then I would have bought originally. Through riding I have found what I need for my, and I'm not easy on my bike.

That is awesome! Building as you go is a great idea. Glad to hear the new bike is working out and that you are charging. Its never too late to start racing, IMO. Why not give it a try?

@Cakes: Oh yeah its gonna happen, I just need to figure out how to get involved. My friend is doing a race near my house like 5min bike ride, it may be to late to get in on that one but soon for sure.

Were you fully rigid before getting this shock? Can't remember - either way, having really nice suspension is such a bonus.

No I bought my single speed with a shock it was a suntour with springs, AKA boat anchor. The bike feels so awesome I want to ride all the time, work gets in the way of this of corse. I did a 12 hr race called "12 hours at Papago" in Tempe AZ. with 3 friends and I'm really getting hooked here, My wife is concerned lol. I signed up for another race in march called the fat tire 40, its a 40 mile race with a limited number of riders allowed. Two friends have signed on with me I'm stepping my riding up to three times a week. I hope some of you people in Arizona will be in the race see you soon. I'll try to put something together about my first race experience talk more soon.

What is the new brake set up you got rolling? Good times on your visit. I'll try to get down to PHX before April so you can show me the goods.
