Winter - Cakes

Saw the cameras in Crested Butte this morning. Looks like winter is making another crack at owning the landscape. Big storm blowing through Sedona right now. Dark skies, rain, thunder, lightning...Reminds me I have no idea what to expect come the winter months.

4:46pm - 01/27 - JC - best 8" day the butte has seen in forever today, almost forgot about mountain biking for a little while there!

7:53pm - 01/21 - Cakes - Today was the crapiest day of the week and I was still comfortable riding in shorts. It ain't a powder day, but its alright by me.

8:42pm - 12/20 - Cakes - Nice, RF! Get it where you can.

7:05pm - 12/20 - ridinfool - Gunny got a little more snow than I had hoped. There is now more snow than dirt on the trails at Hartman Rocks. However, there were still riders out there making tracks. I found myself searching for freshies.

8:35am - 01/15 - Cakes - The first one I ever saw was Rick from the Mystic Cycle Centre - he did the Iditabike way before their was much of an ultra-endurance genre. If I remember correctly, he had two rims welded together to accommodate his big-ass tires.

12:44pm - 01/13 - Cakes - I have not, but I've seen tire tracks from them on cross-country ski trails, snowmobile trails and in variable conditions with mud, sand and snow. It would be fun to ride on in the right conditions.

Snow Tire? - whiteguyfro

While snow in the high country is thin we are deep in the powder in the Front Range. Commuting the last couple weeks has been slippery and sporty. That has me thinking about snow tire options. Anyone have experience with any sort on non- studded snow tire? Looking for something that would be 700c x 35 and would rather not have something studded since the commute is a mix of snow, ice, and dry pavement.

10:16am - 12/26 - Cakes - So, being back in the high country it is clear that the winter weather is slow in coming. Mingling with friends last night, I heard about some of the trails that should be buried under snow are still being ridden by fat tires. Make hay while the sun shines, I guess - shoulda brought the bike!
